OOC Behaviour
-Be Respectful: Everyone should be afforded a certain amount of respect on this site, especially if you expect it of others. You don't have to be "super-nice" to everybody, but at the very least, be civil to everyone, especially folks who you don't particularly care for.
-Be Positive: A creative atmosphere should be a positive one, and its up to our users to foster it, that means you!
-Don't be over-critical: Constructive criticism is something that should always be welcome. That means that when you criticize someone's work, don't simply say things such as, "it sucks!" or "you suck!" but something that is truly and sincerely helpful. This also means that if you intend to be open to criticism, you must be open to all of the positive criticism, and not be defensive over something that you don't think you did wrong.
-No Bullies: 0 tolerance. Period.
-No Slurs/Racism/Sexism/etc.: This is pretty straight-forward, and if someone tells you that something you said offends them in some way, just stop. On the flip side, if you constantly are being offended, you should probably consider your own "limitations" as far as things like profanity can go.
IC Conduct
-Keep it PG-13..... So to speak: While in RP we exercise a "fade to black" rule for scenes which would be considered too mature for a PG-13 rated movies and such. While we can stretch pretty far with violence and profanity, we still ask that you avoid going totally overboard with it.
-Respect the characters: This one should also not be tough. Your characters are people too, and you shouldn't abuse them for the purposes of some weird/sick fantasy. Seriously, if it's out of character, don't do it.
-On Post Length: We would like to think that there's a certain lax nature among our staff as to how long your posts need to be. It does need to be enough that it responded to the post of the other players in the thread, while making a sufficiently detailed enough sequence in the reader's head. 300 words is usually a good number, but we won't strictly enforce any minimum counts unless it gets out of hand.
-Activity: We require a moderate amount of activity from our role-players, and when we get a reasonable number of them, or if we feel that too many players are dwindling in their posting habits, we will put out activity checks.
-God-Modding and Power Playing: This is a universal basic of all RP sites. The power isn't the character, and you can't control other people's characters.
-Claims: All Claims must be done before you may role play. If you do not add claims and you begin to rp your thread will be locked until you are done with claims. The only reason we ask you do this is for both you and your character's security. Face Claiming your characters play-by is important because you don't want some other character running around with your characters face, Who's Who is one of the most important because it tells everyone who you are and who you play.
Setting-Specific Rules
-Canon Parents: Being that we're a next-gen setting site, it would only prove natural that players would have a desire to play the offspring of certain heroes. As a result, children of canonical parents are permitted, and on some level encouraged. Any character who can reproduce in the Marvel Universe is a viable option for parentage, and how their powers or abilities impact your character's is entirely up to you. But, if a player already has claim to a parent, their permission must be gained for a new sibling to arrive who would have the same parent. Clones aren't necessarily restricted by this, but clone characters are not intended to be a common occurrence, and it would still be courteous to obtain permission.
-Time Travel and Aliens: Things such as time travel only exist in movies and comics for the Marvel Universe. While there are individuals who may manipulate the flow of time, physiologically it still moves the same for everyone and is only a matter of perception. As a result, not character may be displaced chronologically.
-Canons: As on several occasions Marvel actually HAS gone so far as to create a generation following the first one in terms of characters, Age of Apocalypse and Days of Future Past being two examples, characters are permitted to take on these canons. They do not always necesarilly have to follow the Canon Parent rules outlined above, but are still subject to staff dismissal if children to that character are deemed too numerous.
