Things were different for Alexis now that she was away from the streets. She was still getting use to the rules because when she was in her own she didn't have any. So the small child laid in bed pondering what the morning would be like. Getting really excited the eight year old rolled out of bed in her light pink night gown slipped on her pink bunny slippers and looked over to her sleeping room mate who was already asleep.
Creeping out the door Alexis made her way down the stairs and made her way to the back of the school and out to the back yard. The night was beautiful and the fireflies danced around. Once they noticed her they bee lined for her and danced around her. Each singing quietly to the girl the song of night light stars.
Alexis danced around with them and had not a care in the world. She looked like pure innocents in the form of a small child.

Brute was sound asleep in his dorm. His snoring rattled the windows and chased out his roommate. Sitting up, the behemoth let out a roaring yawn before standing up. Walking to the door, his scratched butt as his stomach rumbled. "Time for a midnight snack," he mumbled. The man carried his warhammer with him as he made his way to the kitchen. He tried to be quiet, but his large size made it difficult. "Sneaking" to the fridge, he opened the door to see the heavenly glow of the food container. He dug out ingredients to make a sandwich. Slapping the miscellaneous items together, the meal stood about 5 feet tall. Sitting down to eat, something caught his eye. A dancing glow outside enticed him to the doors.
"Woh," he whispered, looking at the all the fire flies. The flash and flickering of them made him feel unusually happy. Brute danced with the bugs until he saw a girl. Walking up to her, he sat down and folded his legs. "Hello, my name is Brutus. What's yours?" He smiled. Hold out his war hammer, the giant offered it to her. "Want to play with Teddy?"

The Fire Flies whispered quietly as they told her of the man who they were leading to her. She sighed and nodded. "I guess our fun has to come to an end." Alexis said with a sad tone. She knew she was out later then she should be and that she has been told a few times not to be out on her own or out of her room past 8 pm because she had classes in the morning. When the man walked up she looked up at him and smiled.
"It's very nice to meet you Brutus. I'm Alexis and these are my friends. They are Fire Flies from the forest. They came all this way to play with me tonight. They said they like you and that they enjoy you not shooing them away." She smiled and the fire flies danced around them and a few landed on the man before floating off again. The girl looked at his hammer and giggled. "Oh Silly that is way to big for me. I am small and not very strong. Your hammer has a nice name." The girl spoke as she looked up at the big man. He was really tall and really big.

As the insects flew away, he let out a whispered "Wow." Normally bugs creeped him out, but these ones were alright. The boy towered over the child, but he tried to look as friendly as he could. A noise came from behind a building, causing the giant to turn towards it. "What was that?" he whispered. Slowly walking over to it, he held Teddy close to his chest. "H.. Hello?" He called out, peeking around the corner. A pair of eyes suddenly appeared, followed by a loud crash and bang. "Ahh!" He screamed, falling backwards, still holding his hammer tight. A black cat came out from behind the building, looking at the two and letting out a small meow. It then sat down and licked its paw, then rubbing its head. "Ahh... Looking at the little kitty," Brutus said, still sitting on his rear. The feline hopped up on his lap and purred, before looking towards the girl and meowing once more. He gave the cat a couple of strokes behind its ear, making it purr even more.

Alexis liked this guy he seemed like a really fun person and she was sure he would make a great friend. She watched what had happen and when the kitty meowed at her she smiled and giggled. "She said she is sorry for scaring you, and that her name is Starlight." The cat meowed again and Alexis nodded and wondered behind the building. A short moment later more kittens came running out however Alexis was no where in site. But their was seven kitties including starlight. All the kitties had different colors of fir but one who was compleatly one color.
It wasn't until the group of small kittens got up to the man that the kitten with one color changed back in to the girl. The other kitties meowed and played. "This is Starlights family." The girl spoke.
