"'With Great Power, comes Great Responsibility,' my dad always told me that, but I never understood it..... Not 'till now."
Full Name: Benjamin Richard Parker
Codename: Spider-Man
Character Faction: The Spider-Man Family
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Powers:
Atomic-Bond Manipulation - In a similar manner to his father, Ben is able to manipulate the molecules in his body, specifically those in his cerebellum, and how the interact with those of other objects. While manipulating them in this way, he can attract these objects to his skin, creating a bond which allows things such as wall-crawling and running. This can be done with any space on his dermis, but it specifically focuses most densely in the palms and inner-fingers of each hand, and the soles of the feet, directly translating to the bond being most strong there. Each finger and toe is able to support roughly 3 tons of weight, and the palm and full sole are roughly capable of doing this for double this. In total, a single hand or foot can maintain the bond for up to 21 tons.
Superhuman Strength - 15 tons is Ben's max weight so far, being more muscular and athletic than his father was at his age, though not at the peak of his power, with the same enhancement to his physiology. Due to this, though, the young man is somewhat less flexible and agile.
Superhuman Speed - Ben is able to run at a pace which out-speeds most cars while they accelerate, easily hitting 60, and sprinting at an 80. This is thanks to his frequent exercise prior to developing mutations, and continued routine workouts after gaining his powers.
Superhuman Stamina - Due to a resistance to his fatigue toxins, Ben can perform at his full capacity for several hours before running low, so to speak.
Superhuman Durability - Spider-Man has a strong resistance to certain types of injury, most specifically impacts. Able to fall from extremely high distances without suffering any discomfort, or even being struck by individuals with lesser levels of strength than his own, present very little problem to Benjamin. In order to prevent certain attackers from hurting him, Parker will often move in the direction of the strike, which prevents injuries on the part of his opponent, and can lessen the impact from attackers who actually can harm the mutant. Sharp weapons and bullets, however, continue to have their typical affect, however.
Superhuman Agility and Equilibrium - Ben has a level of agility, balance, coordination, and equilibrium beyond that of a normal human. Ben's connective tissues are roughly, if a little bit less than, twice as flexible than that of a normal human. At his current level, Parker can match the acrobatic records set by any Olympic athlete, even surpassing certain ones, though he has not been able to match his father or sister in any instance. But Spider-Man is in a constant state of equilibrium, able to contort and balance himself in any manner imaginable. As well, Ben can also keep his balance on nearly any object which can support his weight, no matter how small or narrow it may be.
Superhuman Reflexes - Enhanced to 40 times that of a normal human, allowing him the ability to react to most any attack from a foe, and even at a reasonable enough distance, evade gunfire through dodging and jumping. This power can be used in conjunction with his Spider-Sense to even avoid close-range gunfire.
Regenerative Healing Factor - Ben is able to recover from most minor injuries within minutes, with injuries that take days, taking minutes, weeks are turned to hours, and even a broken bone which would take months to heal fully can return into working order within the span of a few days.
====Contaminant Immunity - With a faster metabolism than a normal human, diseases, drugs, and poisons seem to have no affect on him. While they do technically have an affect on him, it only lasts for such a short amount of time that it is highly unnoticeable. The somewhat radioactive nature of his cells are also able to counteract particularly hardy bacteria as well, killing them.
Spider-Sense - An omnipresent "6th sense" that gives Ben a special awareness of his environment around him. When passed down to his children, Peter's Spider-Sense seemed to become more advanced. Not only manifesting as a general buzzing in the back of his head, Ben's Spider-Sense directs the young man as well, and can even vary in the specific "feel" of each sensation when a new threat, or type of threat, occurs. This allow the hero to identify attacks from specific enemies, or incidents which he's encountered before. In addition, it also gives Ben the intuition to web-swing without having to look for a target, as well as even determine the location of specific objects within a short distance. His power has also been known to react to things which don't typically constitute a threat, such as cameras and approaching parties. A threat's level of danger will also increase the intensity of his sense's response. The Spider-Sense also gives Ben a powerful surge of adrenaline, in an almost "Fight or Flight" reflex present in most animals. Fatigue, and eventually exhaustion, can ebb away at this power though, eventually rendering it incapable of operation.
====Radio-Frequency Detection - The sense also grants him the ability to "tune in" to most radio frequencies, though he may not broadcast, obviously, this is a useful ability when listening to police-radios.
Skills:
Intelligence - An estimated IQ of 180 marks Ben as an intelligent young man, having been able to skip one grade, placing him in senior year early. While it is markedly high, Parker fails to garner any real attention for his academic achievements, when compared to his twin sister who is just as, if not more, intelligent than Peter.
====Repair and Tinkering - While he doesn't really stand out in any specific science, Parker is somewhat gifted with machines, able to comprehend their workings, and regularly performing repairs and maintenance on his and May's web-shooters.
Athletic - Having been interested in sports from a young age, after being introduced to them by Flash Thompson, a friend of his father's, Parker has more or less spent nearly all of his scholastic life involved in some form of extracurricular sport. Football is a favourite, playing Running-back, but Benjamin also enjoys Basketball, Soccer, and Baseball.
====Acrobat - Though he originally had little desire to engage in acrobatics like his sister, Ben developed some acrobatic skill after becoming Spider-Man, with considerable training and tutoring from his sister in the early days of their heroics. Able to perform complex leaps and sequences, Ben is considered to be of admirable talent, but only passable skill when placed among the members of the Spider-Man family.
Dancing - Taken as a side-project to help with his footwork in Football, Ben is a respectable dancer, allowing him to quickly dart and hop around with little effort, and integrating into his fighting to make him far more grounded than other Spider-Heroes in a bout.
Indomitable Will - Highly resistant to mental suggestion, Ben is able to grit his teeth and fight through both pain and mind-assaults. While everyone combats with temptation and evil internally, Ben is one of the few who can consistently fight it off.
Hand-To-Hand Combat - During his, brief, time as a student at Xavier's, Ben began receiving rudimentary tutoring in fisticuffs, as well as creating a fighting-style unique to his version of the Spider-Powers. While something similar to his father's would have been an obvious choice, Logan helped him create something a bit "harder and heavier" favouring take-downs and ground-based combat, as well as some work with Miles Morales on the more typical methods of fighting used by Spider-Men. While he is still versed in the more leap-heavy combat used by both Spider-Men before him, and Spider-Girl, Ben has worked on his own method for two years, with a strong resemblance to kickboxing and Roman-style wrestling. Pouncing and tackling are also a couple of tactics he enjoys, but overall Parker continues to pull his attacks in order to prevent injury or death when fighting a foe who wouldn't be able to take the hero's full-power strikes.
Equipment:
Web-Shooters - Inspired by the design of Peter's, Ben's shooters are housed just beneath each wrist, with an opening small enough to allow for the fluid to fire and solidify from their housing. Each one also has a special cycling system which permits the replacement of empty cartridges upon running out, effectively allowing for the use of triple the amount of fluid per filling, though replacement does take a small while due to how they're placed beneath both gloves. In a single shot, these machines can fire up to 60 feet of web.
====Web-Fluid - A shear-thinning liquid which is in a liquid-state when put under pressure, but when making contact with air becomes a chain of thread which is knitted together in a perpetual pattern until the generation is terminated. The thread is highly-adhesive, though upon contact with air it looses the quality quickly, but it maintains this near the mouth of the shooter thanks to a special material which lines each cartridge's interior, that sprays onto the nearest centimetres of webbing upon release of his shooter's triggers. This material is able to support roughly 120 lbs. of weight per centimetre of crossed-section when woven together. Following 50 - 70 minutes of exposure to air, the webbing deteriorates into a fine powder which shares all qualities with common dust-particles.
Utility Belt - A belt which houses Ben's extra webbing and cellular phone, the pouches are housed on the inside, held closed with small button-clasps.
Classic-Style Spider-Man Suit - Made to resemble his father's original suit, it's formed from the Lycra-spandex polymer in his pants, much like that used in other Spider-man suits, though the top-half more strongly resembles a cotton hoodie modified to have the hood itself be his mask. The bottom hem of his shirt can be zipped to the mid-seam of his belt, and the mask itself can be attached through the neck via Velcro. The lenses over his eyes are made from glass and treated so as to be one-way reflective. Along the edges of both lenses are housed a small series of wires, transmitters, and receivers which allow for connection through a wireless network, giving the young man a HUD and access to the world-wide-web. All technology housed this way is easily damaged, however, with a broken lens easily turning worse of the length of the machine itself loses any portions.
Black Spider-Man Suit - Made of a similar design to his classic, though made of solely the Lycra and spandex, this suit takes the appearance of something like the Symbiote-Suit which venom formed when forming to Peter some decades before. This was designed by his mother, in the interest of being a little bit less "completely and utterly obvious to anyone within a city block as to where you're standing." It houses the same technology in the lenses, and the belt is still present, despite having an absent visibility.
Ben traipsed down the staircase, hand gliding along the polished rail with every step. Rings forming under the young man's eyes, after only getting a few hours of sleep the night before, the teenager let out a drawn-out yawn which reflected how he foresaw the day to turn out. Something told Parker he should simply stay in bed, but the big game was tonight, and to even play he'd need to attend all of his classes.
Pushing through the swinging-door that lead to the kitchen, Parker was barraged by an attack of aromas, noise, and bright sunlight. The room, with curtains drawn, food cooking, and May chattering with her usual vigour, already managed to give Benjamin something of a headache before even managing to take his seat. Shuffling to the chair, the young man plopped into a seat, adjacent to his red-headed twin, as she engaged Peter, their father, in something of a lengthy discussion about quantum physics, or loop-hole theory, or something else that would be way over Ben's head by this point.
Felicia, the twin's mother, touched Ben lightly on the shoulder and slid a plate of food in front of him with a smile. "Hey mom." The boy said with something of a hoarse voice before taking a sip of water, to be met with a, "Good morning sweetheart, so it's at six, right?" Which was met with a nod of response, before the younger Parker could swallow and reply, "yeah."
As he cut an egg with the side of a fork, and placed the bit into his mouth, Mrs. Parker then turned to her husband and said, "We'll be sure to get there on time, right PETER?" Raising an eyebrow to see if either of the two even registered.
Peter looked up, initially seeming to be confused about the question, before jarring himself with a slight shake of the head and responding, "Umm, yeah, football, eight o'clock, certainly."
"Six, Peter." The blonde-woman corrected with an annoyed tone.
"I said six." The man insisted, before taking a sip from his cup and turning back towards May, to resume their previous line of conversation.
With a sigh, Ben stood up from his half-emptied plate and said, "May, we gotta go, class hits it in an hour and I don't wanna be late." Pulling his backpack from the floor and slinging it over a single shoulder.
Met by her energetic nod, May shot up and immediately zoomed towards the kitchen door, hugging both her parents on the way out. "Later mom! Bye dad!" Before darting outside, followed by a less-zooming Ben who gave a short wave and departed with "Bye!" Closing the door with maybe a bit more force than necessary, shaking the house somewhat, before hearing the low, but still audible, scolding of Felicia towards her husband, when she thought their son and daughter were out of earshot.
"So you ready?" May enquired as she walked with her usual bounce along the side-walk. "Ready for what?" Her brown-haired counterpart asked with an arched eyebrow and an amused smirk.
Pouting her lip, the shorter twin whined, "Oh come ooooon! It only takes us like two minutes by web to get to school! Why else would we leave an hour early if were weren't gonna do some heroing?"
"'Heroing' isn't a word."
"Don't care!"
With a sight of defeat, and a slackening of his shoulders, Ben tossed May a pair of small bracers before saying frankly, "Here, next time try not to fry 'em, the parts are expensive as hell, and when you make those mega-long shots, it's too hard on the motors."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah." May said dismissively as she waved a hand at him and cradled both of her shooters as if they were children, before hopping into a nearby bush and causing a great amount of rustling. Within the span of half a minute, a strand of web shot out from the bush, and a blur of red, supplemented by some blue, shot out from the shrubbery and began swinging through the air on her web.
With a sigh of exhaustion, Ben followed suit, using the same "hiding-spot" to change, though being a bit more cramped, and coming out with his own movement, after getting a running-start on the first leap of course. It wasn't long before Spider-Man and Spider-Girl were swinging through the edges of Manhattan, keeping a sharp eye out for anything crime-like, and waiting for the first school-bell to ring.
