Physical Appearance: While Shaun is in his forties, he looks like he's in his early twenties. His hair is long and black, going down to about the middle of his eyes. A scar cuts his face almost in half, going from above his left eye to the right corner of his lips. Despite the line, his eye-sight is unhindered. However, the man always looks serious and ready to kill someone.
He is strong and muscular, but his veins still bulge on his biceps when he fights or strain them. From spending years smoking, his skin started to show the damage, however his physical capabilities are untouched. The man stands at about 5' 10" but his boots give him an extra inch and a half. To increase the fear of his enemies, Shaun's teeth were sharpened and had his pupils reshape to look like snake-eyes to give more of a predatory look.
He wears a black combat suit, ensuring extra protection around his chest. His boots are steel-toed and have metal studs on the bottom, increasing his grip and damage when kicking. His combat gloves also have metal studs on them. The only part of his body without protection is his head.
Personality: People know Shaun is impulsive and acts without control. The man thinks little beyond mayhem and destruction. His lust for blood and power is what drives him on his missions. He fights for fun and the rush of adrenaline. If it requires a risk for life or limb, chances are, Shaun will do it. It's because of this he has become a mercenary and will take up almost any job, assuming it pays well.
While he enjoys the sense of power, it is easy to tell the man's grasp on the world is slipping. Very few people that fought the man were able to understand his moves. He attacks are spontaneous but cunning. He ultimate goal is to hunt down his nephew, Blake Cross.
Personal History: While Shaun is a maniac now, he wasn't always so. In fact, he used to be the shining eye of the Cross family. When he was young, the boy was intelligent, physically fit, and very popular. By the time he was in 10th grade, Shaun earned a full scholarship to Harvard University. He could do almost anything he set his mind to and his goal at the time was to make the world a safer place to live. His younger brother looked up to him and admired how determined Shaun was. However, despite his success, Shaun's father refused to teach him the Cross family secrets. He was always told he was not worthy of them.
By the age of 19, he had it all: Money, a free ride to college, the girl of his dreams, and a family that supported him. He couldn't have been happier. But even good things must come to an end. He blames the Xavier's Institute for his downfall. They approached him one day, telling him that he was a mutant and that they could help. He argued with them. If he was a mutant, why is he still normal? Nothing has changed. Angered and annoyed, Cross demanded that they leave him alone and never come back. Enraged, he went for a run to try and cool down. But while crossing a street, a driver wasn't paying attention and nearly hit the man. Instead of being apologetic, the driver got out of his sports car and blamed Shaun for it. While he accepted blame, even though he knew it wasn't his fault, the man just wanted to not start a fight. But the other man had other plans, throwing the first punch. In self defense and instinctive reaction, Shaun threw one back, getting a lucky strike on his attacker's nose.
A drop of blood landed on his fist, being absorbed into his skin. The man's life flashed before Shaun's eyes, learning everything the man knew. Apparently, this man was a three time black-belt champion. The man snapped, as the knowledge and power felt good. He continued to wail on the man, beating him long after death. He could feel the power flowing through his veins. It felt so good. He had to have more. Running home, he greeted his soon-to-be wife with a baseball bat, beating her more and more. After his excitement ended, seeing through the insanity, Shaun understood what he did. Unable to handle it, he dove back into the insanity, fleeing the state and changing his identity. A black market plastic surgeon even changed his facial structure to hide him from police.
To curb his appetite for more blood and knowledge, Shaun, taking up the name Shadow Blade, started his life as a mercenary. While typically working for high end payers. He has been known to do some dirty work for a politician. While money was often the payment for a successful mission, other times, it was a sacrifice to increase his knowledge. The more he worked, the more he loved it, however it also caused him to fall deeper and deeper into his insanity.
After about a decade of work, Shaun learned that his brother had a son with mutant abilities. While his missions were a continuing priority, as a side job, he would hunt down his nephew. Shadow Blade wanted to learn the family secrets that his father and those before him hid from the man.
"It's not what you have, but what you do with it, that makes the man you are."
Superhuman Powers: Vampiric Absorption| If the blood of somebody touches his skin, Shaun will learn everything they know. If enough blood is absorbed, it will keep him at his peak state. However, this also causes him to fall deeper into his insanity.
Regeneration| By absorbing blood, he can heal himself. The more severe the wound, the more blood is required. While a paper-cut will require only a couple of drops, a broken bone can require a pint. However, he cannot heal from instant deaths, such as a shot to the heart or to the head.
Skills: Marksmanship| Shaun is capable of shooting projectiles with great accuracy. He is capable of hitting a bulls eye from over half a mile away with a bow, and over three miles away with a sniper rifle.
Swordsmanship| Shadow Blade is skilled in sword fighting, while he is good with one blade, he prefers to use two.
Close Combat| Shadow is very knowledgeable in hand-to-hand fighting. He has absorbed the knowledge of several trainers and masters. He knows Kendo, Judo, Muay Thai, Vovinam, S.C.A.R.S., Karate, and Kenpo.
Equipment:Combat Armor| A black combat suit, it is derived of a durable, yet lightweight material. It has extra protection over the chest area. While the arms and legs are also covered, the armor is typically used to reinforce the damage of the blow. The gloves have metal studs over the knuckles.
Combat boots| Boots designed to grip the ground, regardless of surface. It also has a steel-toe and metal studs to increase damage potential
Tactical Swords| blades that look like they form one sword but can be split into two swords for dual-wielding.
M-4 Assault rifle| A weapon he picked up on the black market, this military grade weapon comes with a night optic variable-zoom scope. It can shoot semi-auto or burst rounds.
Desert Eagle| A powerful side arm, this hand gun is capable of delivering powerful shots from close to medium range.
