"Look Into My Eyes!"
Full Name: Lawrence Kane, Illegally Changed, True Identity Unknown
Codename: Ghost Rider
Character Faction: Neutral, though has fought with The Defenders
Not much is known of Kane, even SHIELD lacks any data on him before their first determination that this man was The Ghost Rider, so in order to get any story at all, one must ask him personally. Of course, you never will get a straight answer, but here's what has been strung together from half-truths and exaggerations to become something somewhat definitive.
In the early 2000's Kane, or whatever name he may have been going by at that time, was travelling across the country. He was a fairly decent biker, and was strong enough to serve as hired muscle on many occasions. No real job, the man picked up money where he could, and used connections from when he was involved with prominent gang to keep his bike in good repair.
One day, while going through Nevada, Law was jumped by a gang that had recognized him as a member of the Hell's Angels, despite the fact that he and the gang hadn't been associated with each other for easily a decade. Beaten to near death, Lawrence was dragged back to their compound, where the man was sacrificed in a satanic ritual, being offered to Mephisto. Not one to pass up a soul, Mephisto accepted the offering, and promptly awarded these followers with mystical abilities that they would later use to commit crimes, and cause suffering. But ultimately, making their souls very powerful.
Lawrence, on the other hand, was banished to the dimension of hell. While there, he was tormented for several weeks by devils and demons who inhabited the plane, though to his perception it felt like 35 eternities. Eventually, however, Mephisto freed the man form his torment, proposing a deal. In return for making him a figure akin to the famous heroes known as Ghost Riders, to become a harvester for corrupt souls, reaping them, so that they may appear in Mephistopholes' realm and make himself more powerful in the process, as well as a bid for vengeance against the bikers who had sacrificed him.
Agreeing with an eager desire to take his own revenge against the satanists, Kane was bonded to the soul of a slain Angel of Vengeance, effectively taking two half, broken, parts of separate souls to make a new whole one.
Combined together, the Ghost Rider spent a year in hell, tasked with only the mission of surviving, as the legions would kill the new being on sight, as was ordered by Mephisto to all who inhabited hell. In the following 12 month, this served as Lawrence's training to use his powers as a Rider, drawing and sharing energy of the angel, who seemed to revel in smiting the wicked, and constantly making bids for full control during this time. Eventually, 365 days in hell passed, again with each one still feeling like an individual eternity for those who were inside the pocket dimension. And with this, The Rider was given permission to return to Earth, and seek out his vengeance as The Devil's newest rider.
Upon his arrival, Lawrence took on the name by which all know him now, and as it seems, all records of the man were erased. Any written mention of his name became destroyed or corrupted, videos which featured his face ceased to function, and even what databases SHIELD would have had access to on the man seemed to vanish.
Seeking out his old friends among The Hell's Angels immediately, Kane did not rejoin, but began gathering information on the gang that had killed him, even managing to discover their names and faces after several months of extensive search and enquiring contacts. But eventually his targets were clear.
In the short year and a half that he'd been absent, the killers had made considerable use of their powers crawling up in the underworld, some starting their own gangs, becoming high-ups in the mob, or even just straight out becoming super villains.
This made some of The Rider's searching easy, but since then he has spent well over a decade searching, and not even half of the 17 killers he set out to reap have been killed. Though he has had great success in smaller-time reapings, these powerful souls still largely remain out of reach, and Lawrence refuses to stop until they have all been dispatched with.
As a human Lawrence is a rather typical human, with abilities that are only describable as lack-luster. but as the Ghost Rider, he possesses a variety of superhuman powers.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Demonic Symbiosis: Lawrence is a resurrected spirit, having at one point perished, but due to a deal he made with Mephisto, was able to return to Earth as one of his agents, the Ghost Rider. Bonded to the spirit of a slain angel, Kane was returned to the realm of the living, his body able to be fully inhabited once more. Given the nature of his situation, Lawrence is rendered a spirit of vengeance, by the desire of the angel, who has a powerful wish to purge the world of evil and corruption. At night, and in the presence of evil, Kane's form loses all flesh and other organs. Replacing all of these is an ever-burning storm of flame, representing the cleansing fires. When transformed in such a manner, the angel takes primary control of their body. During this time, Kane takes something of a "backseat" only giving a small influence to the angel's action, which can occasionally direct the being to behave a certain way. This transformation takes place at Kane's will, though it can be forced by innocent blood being spilled in his presence, though the definition of presence can be interpreted loosely, this is particularly easy to cause when the sun is down.
-Superhuman Strength: The Ghost Rider is able to lift in excess of 40 tons. This number can change when his growth power is utilized, capping at 120 tons in his maximum size.
-Superhuman Stamina: Due to a lack of real muscles, Ghost Rider cannot suffer from fatigue, though he can grow tired if he's cut off from mystical energies in some way.
-Superhuman Durability: Ghost Rider is able to withstand tremendous amounts of force without suffering from death, the bones being enhanced by mystical energies. He can, however, still be injured by earthly means, though it takes much more power to inflict harm upon him. Conversely, hell-forged weaponry, anything used by a devil, or an attack from Mephisto can harm The Rider as normal. An angel heaven-forged, or other similar form of attack can inflict extreme harm, however, able to easily kill him if proper caution isn't exercised.
-Regenerative Healing Factor: When injured, the Ghost Rider must tolerate the damage he suffers, but if the bone-content that forms his body suffers from excessive wear and tear, or his skull is destroyed, The Rider becomes "passive" for a short while. Depending on the severity of his injuries, The Spirit of Vengeance can return in as little as a minute by regenerating the bones back together, pulling himself back together as he does. However, if a force of heaven or hell destroys his skull, The Rider's death becomes permanent, and both souls will be eradicated permanently.
-Hellfire Manipulation: As a Ghost Rider, Lawrence is capable of generating and controlling mystical fire at will. This sort of flame burns no hotter than normal fire, but, is able to also burn one's soul as well, inflicting great pain, and death with sufficient exposure. This attack can be either mystical or mundane in nature, based on Kane's desire, meaning that it can be negated by a corporeal resistance to flame, or a resistance to magic, pending the target and use of the flame at the moment. All fire made from this manner is the same that Lawrence's body is compromised of when he's transformed into The Rider.
-Mystical Chain Creation: Usually worn around his forearm, this mystic length of metal links has been enchanted to complete mental commands, cut through many earthly materials, though nothing more dense than steel, and even turn into other metal weapons. This chain can change lengths at a similar will, and from his chest and mouth, Ghost Rider can produce more.
-Penance Stare: When meeting the stare of an individual who is evil, or even corrupted, he can force them to experience all pain they have ever inflicted on others at one single moment, resulting in death for many. Righteous individuals, such as Peter Parker, Thor Odinson, and Steve Rogers, are immune to this power, however. Hardened killers are more likely to die than petty thieves, but regardless, this stare can have considerable effects on its targets.
-Matter Generation: By using a triggered spell, Ghost Rider can actively generate more matter to his person, maintaining his original shape and form, to become roughly 3 times his original size. With this power, he becomes stronger to scale, but slower as well. When at his maximum size, The Rider becomes a powerful, but lumbering, behemoth of magical energy.
Unaging: Due to the binding of the angel to his soul, and his technical status as an undead being, Law cannot age, permanently stuck in the physical body of a man in his late-20's.
Brawling: Frequenting Biker Bars for 4 decades, Lawrence is a skilled fighter, able to improvise weaponry and outfight most common thugs.
Cyclist: For what it counts, Kane has spent most of his life riding motor cycles, as early as when he could legally drive. As a result, he's rather skilled and agile when it comes to riding even cumbersome and bulky bikes.
Ghost Rider possesses several armaments as well, including:
Hell Cycle: Normally a Harley Motorcycle which Lawrence rides, this bike transforms into a skull-mounted, hellfire fuelled, monster of a machine whenever The Rider wills it. This can be done to nearly any vehicle, but seems to yield superior results if the soul has a closer connection to the object. Regardless of size or design, it seems that these vehicles achieve their maximum potential speed for such a mode of transport, and may defy the laws of physics while doing so. The Hell Cycles have been known to be able to ride along vertical surfaces, and even across water, leaving blackened streaks in their wake from the flame. These machines can continue to obey The Rider's commands when he isn't riding them, acting on a thought for him.
Shotgun: A mundane shotgun, at first glance, when Ghost Rider uses it, however, it becomes a weapon of hell, able to fire nearly anything that can be loaded into the double-barrel. Often chain links are used as ammunition, but regardless of what is used, the weapon usually yields deadly results.
