"When you look in the mirror, what do you see?"
Full Name: Jon Chen Rand
Codename: Tundra
Date of Birth: January 1st, 1995
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Character Faction: Brotherhood of Mutants, Freelance Assassin
"Do you defend someone 'cuz 'they look like me'?"
Physical Appearance: Rand is a man of mixed Asian and White heritage, which shows somewhat in his appearance, though the influences show more distinctly. His skin being a light caramel in tone, Jon's eyes are narrow, juxtaposed by his softer, somewhat more round, facial features. This usually gives off the impression for Tundra being a kind person, by the look of him. A large contributing factor to why he prefers a mask to a bare face is due to this misconception.
Jon's body is somewhat small, standing at an unimposing 5'6", is a collection of powerful, toned, muscles. While it's tough to be intimidated by his stature, the insanely fast and brutal movements by the young Rand will quickly lead others to realize that Tundra is not one to be trifled with.
Spending little time out of costume, Rand is usually seen as Tundra instead. But in the rare instances that he decides to not wear his armour or robes, he prefers a very casual look, often wearing a pair of sweat pants and a light t-shirt. Occasionally he'll forgo the shirt when training, not wishing to ruin his small collection of clothes which he actually does own.
Personality: Tundra is a rather cold person. No pun intended. Due to the icy relationship with his father, thanks to certain chi-related shortcomings, Jon chooses to be rather emotionally distant from others. Using this, Jon always approaches things objectively, completely removing his emotional component from any formula. The man strongly prefers a quiet environment, even keeping his own house an icy fortress of solitude and books.
Impatient and short with others, Jon refuses to take students, and generally just refuses to let others into a situation where he would be emotionally compromised. Being somewhat puritanical, he's never even so much as held a woman in his arms.
A noted flaw of Jon's is that he possesses something of an inferiority complex to Iron Fist, both his father and any successors. While this wouldn't normally doesn't result in any violent outbursts, this can be taken advantage of in order to put Tundra off of his game in a fight.
Personal History: Iron Fist, hero for hire, and considered to be one of the absolute greatest heroes among Earth's forces. Based from the remote dimension K'un-Lun, Daniel Rand ruled the city with benevolence and kindness, while he also helped defend the planet Earth from many dangers alongside his partner Luke Cage. Briefly falling in love with a cryokinetic student who had studied on his, the two were briefly romantically involved, before she left due to being a traitor. Heartbroken, Rand briefly retired from both being a teacher, and hero. But, one day he received news that the woman had bore his child, and intent on saving the fruit of his own loins, hunted down the woman.
Chasing down his former lover, Iron Fist staged a rescue, with the assistance of Thor, he made his way to Jotunheim to find the woman. Combating a practical army of foes, Iron Fist finally reached his target. Engaging in a lengthy, and brutal, bout of combat, eventually Daniel managed to overcome his foe's icy powers and comparable martial prowess. Defeating the woman, her broken form below him, Daniel used up his stores of Shou-Lao's chi in the fight to save his son. Forgoing his title as Iron Fist, Rand raised his son as a teacher, rather than a father.
Throughout his entire early life, Jon Rand was unable to live among the fellow inhabitants of K'un-Lun, forced to live in small dimensions which simulated conditions which allowed for the boy to survive, given the nature of his mutation. The first seven years of his life a near-constant barrage of martial and chi training, Daniel wishing for his son to have sufficient mastery over the spiritual energy to allow himself to survive, knowing that he could survive unsuitable environments through the use of his unique chi and possibly a small amount of magic.
Jon's chi took on special properties even when young, thanks to his mutation which came directly from his cryomancer mother. Even early in training, it was clear that the younger Rand's potential for controlling his chi and using it with the same sophistication as Daniel was a far from likely occurrence. Meanwhile, his martial combat excelled at an astounding rate, taking quite easily to his father's teachings. Eventually, it was determined that there would need to be some magical assistance, as Jon had learned to simulate a suitable environment for himself via his chi, but could not maintain it for longer than 8 hours when not using his chi for anything else.
Deciding that the only way his son would survive was to become the next Iron Fist, and thus a more impressive source of chi to draw from constantly, so the boy was brought before the great dragon for his trial. While an admirable attempt, Shou-Lao still easily defeated Jon, and would have likely killed the boy if not for the intervention of his father. Disappointed in his son, Daniel determined an alternative, but much less honourable, means of ensuring Jon's survival outside of simulated conditions.
Commissioning the shamans to create a belt which would enhance the output of Jon's chi, effectively allowing him to maintain the aura of cold around his person, and stay alive in most any environment. Of course, this manipulation of his powers would be ceased whenever consciousness is lost for any reason that isn't self-initiated rest. Upon taking the belt, Jon left K'un-Lun, deciding it best if he travel on Earth to become stronger, taking on the name "Tundra" due to the nature of his ever-cold aura, constantly freezing many things around him when he empowers it.
Thanks to a great amount of prejudice against him immediately on Earth for being a mutant, Jon began instead taking to the darker parts of the world, becoming a hired hand, killing as he pleased. Eventually, the Brotherhood of Mutants approached him, and became frequent employers for him. So frequently does he work with the group, that many simply consider Tundra to be a lofty, but full-time, member of the organization.
"It's not what you have, but what you do with it, that makes the man you are."
Superhuman Powers:
Inverted Body Temperature - Tundra's body doesn't utilize calories, or even generate heat, as ours does. Rather than do as a normal human body does, all of these actions instead lower his body temperature, and maintain it, at 98.6 degrees farenheit. This is the result of a genetic mutation inherited from his mother.
Chi Manipulation and Augmentation - Jon Rand, ever since being a young boy, has been trained by his father Iron Fist in the use of his body's chi. Able to use this power to enhance his physical abilities to superhuman level, and yield several effects with it. Upon physical manifestation, Tundra's chi manipulates the air around him, making it the same temperature as his body at the moment, usually appearing as stream of cold vapour.
====Cold Blast - Due to the nature of his mutation, Tundra's chi manifests as pure cold energy, which can be used offensively in combat. These blasts of energy freeze all air and liquid it comes in contact with, and can even be used to encase certain targets in blocks of solid ice. Through a blast of extended length, Tundra is able to even focus these blasts and inflict frostbite onto a target.
====Adaptive Environment - Also as a side-affect of his mutation, Jon cannot inhabit any environment which a normal human wouldn't, including temperatures, though the value is inverted. Thus, several of Rand's early years were spent in arctic conditions, until he learned to simulate this environment via his chi. As a result, the immediate area, extending to roughly a centimetre from his person, is always present, thanks to his training to maintain it even when asleep. Of course, when he is rendered unconscious this passive skill ceases and he is exposed to the elements and whatever repercussions that entails. This aura may also be extended several feet to create a bubble of coldness.
====Form Manipulation - For brief periods, Jon can use his chi to transform himself into another state of matter entirely. With ease, Tundra can shift into a puddle of purple liquid, which can move at roughly the same rate and viscosity of water. Through a more considerable amount of focus, he can also turn into a cloud of vapour which he can control. By simply releasing his focus on maintaining the technique, the man returns to his true form.
====Ice-Formation - My controlling and manipulating the manipulation of his cold blasts in order to create thicker shards of ice. These shards often make very effective makeshift daggers and kunai.
Skills:
Conditioning - Jon has trained for years under his father Iron Fist, thus, his body has been pushed to the human's physical limit, even surpassing it in terms of agility and speed. Without his chi's enhancement, Tundra is likely to have physically rivalled Captain America.
Martial Arts - A fighter whose skill rivals even the great Iron Fist, Tundra is a master of K'un-Lun's fighting disciplines. From his time on earth, Jon has mastered many martial arts, including every form of Kung Fu, Muay Thai, Muay Boran, Akido, Judo, Karate, Wushu, Taekwando, and western-style kickboxing. His style heavily focuses on misdirection through feints, aerial attacks, and powerful direct strikes.
====Tōketsu Keitai - Due to his lack of chi mastery, Jon was not permitted to inherit the Iron Fist, and instead compensated for it through the use of his ice powers. Through an aggressive use of his ice powers, making foes sluggish by extending his aura and generating mini-blasts, as well as encasing his fists and feet in ice to make them even deadlier when striking his foes.
Weaponry - Versed in a variety of martial-arts related weaponry, Tundra strongly favours daggers and knives.
Assassination - Stealthy and silent, Jon makes a living killing off, or preventing the death of, certain targets globally. Chasing down, spotting, and efficiently finishing in a single hit. This is typically more effective on unknowing, and human, targets.
Hacking - A necessary skill for any modern-day ninja, Jon is well-versed in computer technology, and is even able to bypass many common security systems.
Ninpō - Tundra is a user of the modern schools, with several more archaic and specific disciplines.
Equipment:
Costume - Tundra's costume doubles as stealth gear, the darker colours and tones allowing him to blend into shadows more easily, and low-impact body armour. Protecting only vital and large target zones, the blue cloth and mask make him easily identified. The mask protects Jon's true identity, as well, he wears specialized contact lenses which white out his eyes. This appearance acts as a method of intimidation, making others believe that he isn't human, possibly something beyond that, more akin to a spectre.
Traditional Vestments - Usually worn in Kun-Lun, these robes and mask are used to identify his high status as a master in that place. While not strictly to protect his identity, these robes often prove as a quick means of identification.
Belt of Wu - This belt increases the output of Jon's chi through a magical enchantment, this allows the wearer to keep a steady flow of use, without tiring. Thanks to this piece, Jon is able to maintain his aura without going through constant exhaustion.
